Biography
Tara Beecham is an Assistant Teaching Professor of English, College Contact and Referral Representative for the College of Communications, and the Coordinator for the Common Reading at Penn State Berks. Incorporating innovative technology as part of online and hybrid instruction is an area of research that interests her, in addition to student engagement within community-based service learning. She has taught various writing courses on campus, including Rhetoric & Composition, Technical Communication, The Editorial Process, Writing for the Social Sciences, News for a Multimedia World, and Principles of Multimedia Journalism.
Prior to her career in education, Beecham worked as a journalist for companies including Bloomberg News and as freelance writer. Her work has been published in a variety of media outlets, including Pittsburgh Magazine, the Chicago Reader, In Pittsburgh, Family Tree Magazine, Erosion Control, the Daily Local News, the New York Times (as a contributor from Bloomberg News), and she has also worked as a researcher for Outside Magazine and Bloomberg Personal Finance Magazine.
